Len van Schalkwyk
Leonard Outram van Schalkwyk – BA Honours Archaeology, MA Archaeology
Len is the managing director of eThembeni Cultural Heritage, an independent organisation specialising in heritage impact assessments, ancestral grave management and integrated environmental management. Len has more than 25 years of professional experience as a practising archaeologist and heritage resource manager in South Africa, Botswana and Mozambique. His research interests have focussed on the Iron Age of southern Africa, while his management specialisations are heritage impact assessments, community liaison and ancestral grave management. He is currently working in Lesotho on a large scale intervention, ensuring compliance and guidance for all heritage related issues.
He has consulted to a signficant range of Southern African governmental bodies, NGO’s and private entities and is a respected and professional practitioner. He brings outstanding heritage and cultural knowledge to the ACT board.
