iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a world heritage site and the largest estuarine system in Africa, encompasses five ecosystems and offers exceptional diversity of species, including coral reefs, sub-tropical dune forests and 521 bird species. This project is offering groups of school children from underprivileged backgrounds the opportunity of visiting the park to learn more about biodiversity, and the importance of conserving environmental services.
This project is a partnership between the iSimangaliso Wetland Park Authority and the African Conservation Trust with funding from the National Lotteries Distribution Trust Fund. ACT’s role in this project is the field implementation and delivery on the project outcomes. An estimated 3,600 learners and educators will be reached by this initiative.
